KANNAPOLIS, NC - Berry Baseball completed a 3-0 weekend with their defeat over the University of Rochester in today's final game, 4-0. The Vikings are now 7-2 overall.
With each team tallying six hits on the morning, the Vikings were the only one's to convert those hits to runs, shutting out the Yellow Jackets.
Levi Cloud provided two hits and drove in three runs for the Vikings, including a huge 2-run home run in the third.
Berry took advantage of the starting Yellow Jacket pitcher, knocking all six hits on him and taking three runs in his four innings.
On the mound for Berry was
Jackson Collett, staying out for five innings and only allowing two hits with two strikeouts in his victory. After Collett three more pitchers saw the mound for the Vikings to continue the shutout.
It was the Vikings who did the first damage with the opening run when Cloud singled to bring in
Nick Brunswick.
The runs continued with Cloud still leading the way as he cleared the fence scoring himself and Brunswick again to lift the Vikings up 3-0.
Defensively the Vikings held strong in the field, leaving runners stranded as they ended each inning.
The final run was scored by
Joey Garcia who took advantage of a wild pitch.
Berry returns home for action, hosting the Berry Invitational Thursday-Sunday. The Vikings first game will be Friday against Belhaven at 1:00 PM ET.
