MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings hosted the first round of the SAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon against the Centre Colonels where the Vikings fell, 2-0.
Berry held strong defensively for the first twenty minutes, with Cooper Cherry going one-on-one for a huge save against a Centre attack. A few minutes later, a ball-handling error off a throw-in would lead Centre to score it's first goal of the game.
Despite four first-half shots, the Vikings were not able to penetrate the Colonel defense. Their most threatening attempt came when Jaxon Champ sent in a shot, but the Centre goalkeeper was there for the save.
In the second half, the Vikings came out with an aggressive mindset, shooting a total of to shots in the second period. Following an early second-half goal for the Colonels that gave them a 2-0 lead, they found ways to eat away at the clock and limit the Vikings' opportunities to even the score.
The game would conclude in a 2-0 loss for the Vikings, ending what was a fantastic 2024 season.
