Berry and strong performances behind senior
Bella Boston and
Keira Kruk with a total of 27 kills together.
Lindsey MacDiarmid had a high 45 assists in setting up her teammates on the offensive end and finished with a double-double adding 10 digs as well. Kruk also finished the four sets with a double-double to spark momentum for the Vikings.
The Vikings took set one 25-19. Going up 10-3 early on in the set, it was the Tigers who fought back and showed grit to pull it back in reach at 22-19. However,
Lura Underwood's next attack sparked the last three points for the Vikings to take set one.
Again in set two, Berry went up early, but the Tigers had a brilliant 12-4 run late to steal a set from under the Vikings. Boston and Kruk could have no more of that and took control in set three, defeating Sewanee by 10 (25-15). Scoring spurts for the visiting team were sponsored by home team errors in the set win.
Set four was led by Boston and Kruk's eight combined kills. Freshman
Ailee England sparked a huge sic point run from the service line to extend the lead and push the Tigers into a deeper hole. It all ended with consecutive service aces from
Andrea Hurt to defeat the University of the South (25-8).
Berry takes on the No. 1 SAA team and host of this years conference tournament, Centre College tomorrow in Danville at 2:00 PM ET.
