MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Men's Soccer has its sights set on a Southern Athletic Association Championship run as they earned the right to host their first-round contest as the 4-seed at Pearson Field against 5-seed Centre College at 12 PM ET on Saturday November 2nd.
The Vikings and Colonels will face off in what is sure to be a dandy, as the two teams tied 0-0 in their previous matchup in early October. Coming off a tie to No. 2 seeded Oglethorpe this past weekend, the Vikings are confident that they can compete as a top team in the conference. Head Coach Richard Vardy says "I am very confident in our chances against Centre, but not complacent. In this conference, we must be ready to play every night, but we have seen this team before and know we can play well against them."
During their Mountain Day Weekend contest against Centre, the Vikings showed off their defensive ability, holding the Colonels to zero shots on goal in the first half, and just three shots in the second half. Defenders like Jaxon Champ, Adoffo El Bey, Andy Guzman, and GK Cooper Cherry are sure to have a huge impact this Saturday for Berry.
Offensively, the Vikings rely primarily on their veteran players to shoulder the load and generate goals. Graduate Student, Tracy Moon, leads the way for the Vikings this year with 5 goals and 3 assists on the year. He also holds a game-winning goal this year over Piedmont. Senior, Nate Dulin, has three goals and one assist on the year. Senior, Dylan Bloch, has added 2 goals and 2 assists. The Viking attack is rounded out by Pirmin Blattmann and Patrick Kelly who also scored 2 goals apiece this year.
Berry will have to deal with the Centre attack, led by AJ Daniels and Finnegan Deem-Ranzetta, who have combined for 8 goals and 3 assists this year for the Colonels.
