ATLANTA, Ga. - Vikings Volleyball faced off with a familiar, Emory in today's contest, falling 3-0.
Bella Boston led the fleet today with 15 kills and 3 blocks while freshman
Blakely Barnes followed in her footsteps with 8 kills of her own.
Lindsey MacDiarmid still held strong in her assist category with 28 in today's match.
Set one was nailbiting in a 25-23 decision for the Eagles. Berry took the first three points and held the lead and created more separation when
Keira Kruk had a dominant kill for the 10
th point that sparked a 4-0 run. Now at 13-8, the Vikings were feeling good, but Emory responded with their own 4-0 run and eventually tied the game at 18.
With fans on their feet, the Vikings battled point for point. Tied at 23, with leading attacker
Bella Boston leading the way, two quick kills from the Eagles claimed the set one win.
In the second set, all was the same story, this time with just a three point deciding factor. Berry once again started out early on top, but shortly after the Eagles consecutive five points gave them the steam to hold the lead. The game tied at the 15-point mark while both teams battled back and forth with errors, aces, and kills. However, Emory stood strong and earned a slight edge that the Vikings could not come back from to take a set.
After a tough first two sets, both teams were feeling the pressure. This time Emory began with the opening three points until two errors and Boston kill tied it right back up for another riveting match. Emory kept pushing with bursts of three throughout the set to build a slight margin that they ran with to claim the win on their home court.
Berry Volleyball is back in action with SAA play tomorrow in Jackson, Mississippi as they take on the Millsaps Majors at 1:00 PM ET.
