Berry's men's tennis team closed the regular season in style Tuesday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, stepping out of conference and knocking off in-state foe and Collegiate Conference of the South regular season champion Covenant, 8-1.
The Vikings close the regular season with a 7-6 overall record and three wins in Southern Athletic Association play, the most since the 2015 season.
While Berry dropped the top doubles line, the Vikings would take the next two lines to lead heading into singles play. From there, it was smooth sailing as Berry won five of the six matches in straight sets to earn the victory.
Aiden Benoualid dealt a bagel in the first set of line three en route to his win, while
Fant Smith and
Bohdan Higley earned wins in the fifth and sixth positions.
The Vikings will next travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the SAA Championships, beginning with the quarterfinal round contest against Centre Friday at 2:15 p.m.
