Berry to Play for Regular Season Title Saturday

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry's women's lacrosse team will try to win the Southern Athletic Association regular season championship Saturday as the Vikings travel to Memphis, Tenn., to take on perennial SAA power Rhodes.

Both Berry and Rhodes are unbeaten in SAA play this season. Both teams have played all of the other SAA opponents at this point in the season, with Saturday's game serving as the regular season finale for both teams. The winner of Saturday's game wins the league's regular season title, while the losing team finishes second and hosts the other quarterfinal and semifinal. The team seeded highest after the semifinal round will host the SAA Championship.

The Vikings have out-scored their opponents 90-36 in SAA play this season. Five different players have scored in double-figures for the Vikings against SAA foes, led by junior Haley Larsen's 20. Freshman Dani Taraska has scored 17 in SAA play and leads the Vikings in goals with 51 for the season against all opponents. Berry leads the country in caused turnovers with 16.27 per game.

Rhodes has out-scored its opponents 116-24 in SAA play in 2023. Senior Emily Bruner's 32 assists in SAA play lead the league while her 76 helpers are the most in the country. Her 96 points are also tops in the country.

Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. EDT.
