The No.5-ranked Berry Vikings split their doubleheader against No.6-ranked Belhaven 5-4 and 6-1 on the road in Jackson, Miss. on Saturday afternoon. Game one went into extra innings after
Anna Jackson came up clutch with a 2-run homerun in the top of the seventh to tie the game.

Game one: Berry 5Â Belhaven 4
In the top of the second inning, Freshman
Lauren Cothern got the Vikings rolling by reaching first on an error, scoring
Morgan Frye and advancing
Paige Bennett to third. The Vikings concluded that inning leaving the bases loaded.
           Belhaven answered Berry with a run of their own in the bottom of the second, also leaving the bases loaded as
Blair Hall struck out a batter to end it.
           Through the third and fourth innings the Vikings were able to find their way on the bases but couldn't find home plate, looking for their opportunity to break open. But Belhaven found that opportunity first, scoring two consecutive runs giving them a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
           In a now or never situation for Jackson in the top of the seventh with one out, Jackson homered to center field scoring freshman
Elly Bennett evening the score, which forced extra innings at 3-3.
           With two outs in the top of the ninth,
Morgan Frye came up to bat, on two strikes, no balls, she singled to right field, scoring
Aleeya Thornton and Jackson.
Hannah Gore was able to get the final three outs to secure the teams first top 10 and road win of the season.
           The team recorded eight hits, three came from Jackson.

Game two: Berry 1Â Belhaven 6
Â
After a scoreless first inning, Belhaven was the first one on the board of game two, breaking open to score four runs. The Blazers poked holes in the Viking defense as they gained momentum racking up the score.
           Jackson was able to answer with a singular run doubling to left field sending
Katie White to home plate.
           The score of 4-1 would remain until the bottom of the sixth inning when Belhaven cashed in on defensive errors tacking on two more unearned runs.

The team recorded six runs in game two, two a piece coming from Jackson and
Katie Parker.

The Vikings will be back at home on Wednesday for a doubleheader against LaGrange, first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
