Berry scored on its first possession and was never matched again, cruising to an 80-59 victory over Hendrix in Southern Athletic Association play from Conway, Ark., Friday night.
The Vikings (15-2, 6-0) held Hendrix to just one three-pointer in the contest while connecting on 11.
Chase Ellis scored a team-best 18 points in 25 minutes, with
Michael Johnson adding 13 and
Owen Honroth adding 11.
Berry scored the first eight points of the contest, with
Riley Costas scoring four of his nine points for the game in the process. When Ellis connected on his second 3-pointer of the half with 13:50 remaining, the Vikings had their first double-digit lead of the game, 16-6. While Hendrix (3-14, 2-4 SAA) would get the lead within seven in the late stages of the half, the Vikings would quickly get the lead back to 16 before settling for a 44-30 lead at the half.
A 21-6 run by the Vikings over the first 10 minutes of the second half would put the game to bed early. BC would lead by as many as 30, 68-38, after a Johnson 3-pointer with just over nine minutes to go. Berry would put in the reserves for the remainder of the game soon after and the team would cruise to the 21-point win.
Berry will look to stay unbeaten in SAA play through the first round of league action Sunday when it takes on Rhodes in Memphis, Tenn. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
