MOUNT BERRY, Ga.— Chase Ellis and Braxton Benham led the Vikings with 16 points each as Berry defeated Southern Athletic Association opponent Sewanee 75-62 Friday evening in The Cage Center.
Berry's offense was phenomenal to start the second half as they opened on a 25-6 run to pull away from the Tigers. Benham began the run for the Vikings (13-2, 4-0 SAA) to put the score at 38-31. Jordan Krueger drained a three two minutes into the second half to pull away from the Tigers (10-5, 3-1 SAA) bringing the score to 48-33. Continuing to stretch the lead for the Vikings, Benham drained a 3-ball to bring the lead to 20, 53-33.
Owen Honroth drove in a layup for the Vikings with 5:36 minutes left in the game to put the Vikings up 25 points, 71-46. The Tigers fighting to tighten the score went on a 8-0 run in the last five minutes to put the score at 71-55. Blake Campbell closed out Berry's scoring making it 75-55 with a little over a minute left to play.
Following Benham and Ellis, Krueger put 11 points up for the Vikings and Bryce Clark netted eight. Ellis led with seven rebounds and Honroth and Krueger followed with five.
The Vikings will be back in action Sunday afternoon against SAA opponent Centre College with tip off set for 3:00 p.m. in the Cage Center.
