Berry's men's soccer team started the 2022 season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw Saturday night at La Verne in La Verne, Calif.
The two sides created chances, with most of them coming in the second half. Both teams had just one shot on goal, with
Michael Carboni getting's Berry's shot on target.
Ian Bacchus had an early shot in the second half that was saved, with
Nathan Carlson and
Nate Dulin each getting a shots on target midway through the second half. Those would be the final attempts on goal for the Vikings in the second half, though they continued to create chances that would be stopped before the offense could score.
The Vikings (0-0-1) did have a chance against a 10-man side for the final eight minutes thanks to a red card issued to the Leopards, but Berry couldn't net a winner. La Verne (0-1-1) would earn a very late corner that wouldn't pay off as the Vikings earned a draw in their opener.
Jose Palacios had three saves for the Vikings to preserve the draw.
Berry will be back in action Monday as it takes on Occidental in Los Angeles as the second game of its California excursion to start the year. Opening kickoff is set for 2 p.m. EDT.
