MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- No. 11-ranked Berry took care of business against Covenant College on Saturday in The Cage, with the Vikings winning comfortably in three sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-17) to close out their tournament weekend.
The Vikings and Scots went back and forth in the first half of the first set, finding themselves tied three times. But after back-to-back kills from
Olivia Mallow, Berry took the momentum and ran with it, eventually building a 21-13 point lead. The Vikings would take the first set 25-17.
The second set was all Berry, closing it out 25-15. The Vikings started off hot going on a 10-0 run to kick the frame off. Capitalizing on errors also assisted Berry in their final match of the weekend as the Scots committed eight attack errors in the second set.
Berry sealed the win in the third and final set 25-17. They recorded a match-high of 13 kills, five coming from
Peyton Breissinger.
Jazzy Innis led the team in kills with nine, Peyton Bressinger followed with seven.
Emily Rapach recorded 27 assists, while
Kate Whittle had a solid day in the back row with 19 digs.
Innis was named All-Tournament MVP, with Bressinger and Rapach each earning All-Tournament team nods.
