Mount Berry, Ga – Berry's women's lacrosse team battled Rhodes evenly in the fourth quarter, but the Lynx would hold on for a 24-3 victory over the Vikings Friday morning at Valhalla Stadium.
Berry would keep the highest-scoring team in the Southern Athletic Association to just one goal in the fourth quarter, with
Haley Larsen just before two-minute mark that would make it 1-1 for the quarter.
Unfortunately for the Vikings, Rhodes had scored 23 goals entering the fourth quarter and led by 21 entering the final 15 minutes.
Rhodes (12-3, 6-0 SAA) came out hot, scoring two goals in the first three minutes before
Abby Sprayberry would score the lone goal of the first quarter as the Vikings fell behind10-1 at the end of the first.
In the second, the Lynx would tack on one more before
Molley Cross would add another on the board, the Vikings final goal of the first half. Rhodes would score three more before halftime to make the score 14-2 at the half.
Berry (9-5, 2-3 SAA) would be held scoreless in the third as Rhodes would score nine unanswered goals to make the score 23-2.
The Vikings, who have already tied their season record for wins, will next be in action at the SAA Championships. Bracket information will be released at the end of the SAA regular season Saturday.
