Softball Sweeps Centre to Wrap Up Regular Season

Rome, Ga. – The Berry softball team wrapped up their regular season with a four-game series vs. the Centre Colonels, sweeping the series.

In game one, the Vikings won 5-3 with Bayleigh Masterson and Niki Peters leading the offense with two hits each.

Meredith Holland got the start in the circle and earned her ninth win of the season, improving to 9-2. She pitched all seven innings and tallied four strikeouts.

Madison Hollis got the start and the win in game two, improving to 10-3. The Vikings defeated the Colonels 4-2.

The Colonels threatened with two runs late in the fourth to tie it up 2-2, but Berry was able to add two more in the fifth following a homerun from Morgan Frye over center field to secure the 4-2 win.
Masterson and Anna Jackson each recorded two hits.

In similar fashion, Meredith Holland (10-2) and Madison Hollis (11-3) would get the starts in games three and four, each recording a win.

The Vikings' bats would come alive in the third game, connecting with 12 hits and 10 runs to defeat the Colonels, 10-2.

Berry jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first after Shelby Daniel singled to left field and Frye reached on a walk, following a single from Riley Jackson to score both Daniel and Frye. In the third, a pair of doubles from Samantha Crabtree and A. Jackson, plus a single from Masterson, would add two more.

The Vikings would add five in the fourth and one more in the sixth to seal the deal. Daniel and A. Jackson each had three hits.

Berry would wrap up the series with a 1-0 win over the Colonels, following a major solo homerun from Brooke Whittemore in the fifth.

The Vikings will travel to Danville, Kentucky next week to compete in the SAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed. More details will follow.
