Rome, Ga. – The women's soccer team set out on their final road series, traveling to Jackson to take on Millsaps and Birmingham to take on BSC.
On Friday, the Vikings shut out the Majors, 4-0, to improve to 4-1 in conference play. Carson Gillum,
Maeve McDougal,
Vanessa Belanger and
Madison Cherry each scored for Berry. Both
Maggie Jones and
Emily Lafferty played a half at goal keeper.
On Sunday, Berry fell in 4-3 in double overtime to BSC.
With just 59 seconds gone in the first period, Berry went up 1-0 following a goal from
Christina Marijanich. The Vikings kept their 1-0 lead until the second when BSC tied it up just over one minute into play.
The two teams went back and forth on scoring in the second, making it a 3-3 game at the conclusion of the period. Forcing overtime, nothing went for either team in the first overtime, so they would play a second. Two minutes into the final overtime period, BSC connected with a goal and won 4-3.
Marijanich led with two goals with
Kirbi Mathews adding one for Berry. Jones played the entire 102 minutes at goal keeper, recording four saves.
Berry will travel to Centre this weekend as the No. 3 seed to compete in the SAA Tournament.
