Memphis, Tenn. – The Berry women's basketball team was unable to overcome a strong shooting performance from Rhodes and dropped the second game in the series by a final score of 74-59 on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Jana Morning led the Vikings in scoring with 12 points followed by sophomore
Sydney Blankenship with 10.
The Vikings (2-4, 2-4 SAA) shot just 30.3 percent (20-66) from the field while the Lynx (6-2, 6-2 SAA) connected with 48.4 percent (31-64). Both Berry and Rhodes snagged 41 rebounds in total and turned the ball over 14 times each. What seemed to be a strong suit again for the Lynx was their ability to produce from the bench, outscoring Berry's 34-23.
The Vikings trailed 41-26 at halftime and never found the opportunity needed to catch the Lynx, as they only mustered 10 points in the third to Rhodes' 17. In the fourth, Berry's offense picked up the speed, shooting 50 percent (8-16) from the field and outscoring Rhodes 23-16, but it was not enough to defeat the Lynx.
Berry will travel to Danville, Kentucky next weekend to take on Centre on Saturday and Sunday. To keep up with the latest Berry College women's basketball news, follow the team on Twitter @BerryVikings or @BerryWBB.
