The Berry equestrian team, the No. 1-ranked team in the region, closed out the fall portion of its season collecting a number of honors and ribbons at the recent two-day Western and Hunt Seat competition hosted by Auburn.
The Vikings opened the weekend competing in a pair of Western shows claiming second place in the first event, then capturing first place in the second session.
In the first show,
Autumn Lance was High Point Rider. Also,
Morgan van Hoven qualified for Regionals in Beginner Horsemanship.

In the second show, Solomon was Reserve High Point Rider and Berry's individual results were:
- Open reining – Solomon 2nd
- Open – Solomon 1st
- Level II Ranch riding – Lance 1st
- Level II – Lance 3rd
- Level I – Backlund 1st, Beall 2nd, Morehouse 2nd
- Rookie B – Taylor McIntosh 1st
- Beginner – Brianna Blanchard 2nd
The next Western shows for the Vikings will be Feb. 19 at Berry's Gunby Equine Center.
On the second day of competition at Auburn, the Vikings finished fifth overall in a tight finish in which only a few points separated first from fifth place.
