Austin Brooks scored a game-high 19 points and
Chase Ellis came off the bench to add 18 points as the Berry men's basketball team closed out a season-opening road trip to North Carolina with a 77-75 win over Pfeiffer on Sunday.
The Vikings bring a 2-0 record back home where they'll host the Viking Classic next weekend facing Warren Wilson on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Cage and LaGrange on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Against Pfeiffer's Falcons, Berry took command early opening the game with a 13-0 run and led by 15 at the half, 45-30.
The Vikings extended their lead to as much as 19 points with eight minutes to play. But saw the Falcons slowly cut into that margin behind a barrage of three pointers, and close to within three with 18 seconds to go.
That's when Ellis provided what proved to be the game-winning points when he connected on a pair of foul shots with eight second left as Pfeiffer hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Owen Honroth added 13 points for the Vikings and
Riley Costas had 11 rebounds.
