Following a long week that had a pair of five-set marathons, including a thrilling win over conference rival Birmingham Southern and a nail biter against Emory, the Berry volleyball team opened a two-day, two-game road trip Friday night sweeping Southern Athletic Conference foe Hendrix on Friday night, 3-0.
The win improves the Vikings to 16-2 overall and 10-1 in the SAA heading into Saturday's conference meeting in Memphis, Tenn., against Rhodes at 1 p.m.
On Friday, the Hendrix warriors put up quite a battle in the first few sets, keeping the
Vikings on their toes and making for a great overall game.
But emerged with a 25-17 decision to open the game, and in the second set the Vikings again had to fight off the home team to prevail, 25-19. The third set was all Berry as the Vikings closed out the win, 25-15.
With competitive play coming from both sides of the court, Berry put up some impressive numbers.
Peyton Breissinger led the offense with 10 kills, followed by
Jazzy Innis with eight, and
Molly Bergin with five.
Leading the Vikings in assists was
Emily Rapach, who had 29, while
Laura Beier led the defense with 25 digs.
