Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Berry College volleyball team advanced to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championship match after a straight set victory over Hendrix College tonight.
Berry improved to 25-5 overall while the Warriors close the season 19-7. Berry will play No. 1 seed Birmingham-Southern tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. EDT for the SAA title.
Laura Beier was locked in, posting a program-record 33 digs in the three-set match. Carson VanCampen was unstoppable with 17 kills, a .400 hitting percentage and five blocks. Emily Hancock also posted double-digit kills and 12 digs.
The Vikings earned a hard-fought 25-21 win in the opening set, pulling ahead late after the set was tied at 19 apiece. The Warriors battled in set two, going up 26-25 before three straight Vikings points secured the win 28-26. All the momentum was in Berry's favor in the final set, as the Vikings walked away with a 25-16 win.
