Box Score

ROME, Ga. — The No. 7 Berry College football team collected six sacks and allowed just 32 rushing yards to preserve its unbeaten record on Saturday, defeating previously undefeated Hendrix College 27-9.

The Vikings improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The victory is also Berry's 20th-straight at home. Hendrix fell to 4-1 and 2-1 in league play.

Berry opened scoring in the first quarter with a 24-yard Trey Gregory field goal and a 36-yard touchdown from Mason Kinsey to hold a 10-0 lead after the opening period. Sandy Burks hit a 24-yard field goal to put the Warriors on the board in the second quarter, but on the ensuing kickoff, Mason Kinsey took the return 97-yards for a score to set a program record for longest kickoff return. Burks added another field goal as the Vikings led 17-6 at halftime. Trey Gregory hit a 49-yard field goal to put Berry up 20-6, but Burks answered with his third of the game before the end of the quarter to make it 20-9 heading into the fourth. On the Warriors' first possession of the fourth quarter, Burks had a field goal blocked by Jordan Wilson, which set up a touchdown drive for the Vikings to secure the 27-9 win.

The Vikings return to action on Oct. 19 at Birmingham-Southern. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
