Berry Volleyball Tops Jumbos 3-0

ATLANTA — The No. 25 Berry College volleyball team rounded out play at the Emory National Tournament on Saturday with a straight-set victory against Tufts University. 

With the win, Berry improves to 4-2 on the year. Set scores were 25-16, 25-19 and 25-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Vikings offense was nearly unstoppable, hitting .363 as a team. 
  • Berry help Tufts to a -.071 hitting percentage in set one, while Berry his .348. 
  • After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in set one, Berry retained momentum for the remainder of the set, leading by as much as eight points.
  • The Vikings controlled set two, before erupting for a .542 attack percentage in the final set. 
  • Berry earned 11 total blocks

BERRY STANDOUTS:

  • Emily Hancock: 15 K, .577 K%, 3 BLK
  • Carson VanCampen: 9 K, .278 K%, 6 BLK
  • Emily Rapach: 2 K, 27 AST, 3 SA, 2 BLK

NOTABLES:

  • Berry's 11 blocks is tied for the 10th most blocks in a three-set match in program history. 
  • The Vikings have earned 10 or more blocks three times already this year. They are averaging 2.24 blocks per set. 
  • Berry's Emily Hancock and Emily Rapach were named to the All-Tournament team.

  • The Vikings will have their home opener on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. against Oglethorpe.
