DEMOREST, Ga. - Combining for 23 runs in the two games, the Berry College softball team defeated Piedmont College twice on Friday. The Vikings defeated the Lions 16-0 in the first game, and Berry finished ahead 7-4 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE RECAP:

• Berry opened up the day with nine runs in the first inning, leading 9-0 by the end of the first and never looking back.

• Brittany Tuttle added a grand slam, and Bayleigh Masterson, Makayley Cain, Kayla Sangrey, Madison Morgan and Brooke Whittemore each added RBI singles to round out the inning.

• The Vikings then played two and five runs, respectively, in the top of both the fourth and fifth innings to ensure the 16-0 victory.

• Berry finished the contest with 19 hits and no errors, with Morgan leading the Vikings at the plate, going 4-for-4 in the game.

• Kassie Howard (11-1) earned the win in the circle for Berry, as she threw three innings, allowing just one hit.

GAME TWO RECAP:

• Berry scored in five of their seven at-bats, as the Vikings finished ahead 7-4 in the nightcap against Piedmont.

• Kylie Aiken led Berry in the victory at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and an RBI.

• Piedmont also added four runs in the outing, scoring in three separate innings.

• In the contest, Berry finished with eight hits and no errors, while Piedmont finished with 10 hits and six errors.

• Howard earned her second win of the day in the outing, tossing four innings while allowing just four hits and one run.
