Volleyball Goes Unbeaten at CNU Invitational, Tops Va. Wesleyan 3-0

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Berry College volleyball team will return from the Christopher Newport Invitational undefeated in the tournament after a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan this afternoon. 

With the win, Berry improves to 22-3 overall and will now set their sights on the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament at the Cage Center on Nov. 2-4. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set scores were 25-22, 25-18 and 25-23. 
  • The Vikings hit .161 for the match and earned six blocks. 
  • Eight total service aces also helped Berry to the win. 
  • Emily Hancock continued her strong week, collecting 15 kills and 20 blocks. 
  • Emily Rapach also had a strong game, earning 10 kills, 27 assists and nine digs.

BERRY STANDOUTS:

  • Emily Hancock: 15 K, 20 D
  • Emily Rapach: 10 K, .529 K%, 27 AST
  • Laura Beier: 20 D

NOTABLES:

  • Carson VanCampen (MVP), Hannah Billiard and Laura Beier were named to the All-Tournament team. 
  • Emily Hancock earned her 1,000th career kill today.

UP NEXT:

  • Berry will host the SAA tournament on Nov. 2-4.
