MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Head Coach Cori Thiermann won her 200th career game as the Berry College softball team swept Piedmont College on Sunday afternoon. Game scores were 5-2 and 8-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elisabeth Federici opened up scoring in game one with a two-run homer over the left field fence in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring Sarah Brown.
- The Vikings then added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off of a triple from Sarah Moore, a sac fly from Marie Collop and a single from Frederici, to move the score to 5-0.
- Piedmont's Allyson Gentry added a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lions on the board, but a groundout by the next batter ended the game, ensuring the Vikings' game one victory.
- In the second game, Brittany Tuttle and Brittany Ferrell scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning off of an attempted pick-off error by the catcher.
- Kylie Aiken then homered in the bottom of the third inning to push the lead to 3-0.
- Collop added a 3-RBI double to right center to double the Vikings' score, and Lauren Evans added a sacrifice fly before the end of the inning to move the score to 7-0.
- Genna Telschow hit in the final run of the game for Berry, singling to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning to score Moore and ensure the run-rule.

- With the wins, the Vikings improve to 4-0 on the season, while Piedmont falls to 2-4.
- Kassie Howard earned the win on the mound in game one for the Vikings (6 IP, 3 hits, 4 BB, 5 K).
- Collop tossed a no-hitter in the nightcap to earn the victory (5IP, 3 BB, 6 K)
