Baseball Falls to Visiting Maryville

ROME, Ga. - - Casey Whitaker had two hits, but the Berry College baseball team fell to Maryville College, 6-2, on Tuesday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 23-10 overall. The Scots improved to 23-11.

Maryville jumped out to an early, 2-0, lead in the top of the first inning. The Vikings trailed for the remainder of the game.

Whitaker's two hits led the BC offense. Three other Vikes added one hit in the contest: Austin Haight, Jacob Delk and Grant Perkins. Perkins and Delk knocked in the lone RBIs for Berry as well.

Ten Vikings toed the rubber for BC in the loss. Trey Rampy earned the start and took the loss, tossing the first inning for Berry. Rampy allowed two hits and two runs in his outing.

For the Scots, Lawson Wishard earned the win, throwing six and 1/3 innings. Wishard allowed only five hits and two runs on the afternoon.

The Vikings travel to Jackson, Mississippi to take on Millsaps College in their next SAA series beginning on Friday, April 8 at 4 p.m.
