BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lizzy Jones tallied four times, but the Berry College women's lacrosse team fell to Birmingham-Southern College, 18-10, on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings fell to 7-5 overall and 1-3 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Panthers improved to 9-4 and 4-1.
Jones' four goals led the Berry offense. Both Angelica Miller and Kelsey McAnnally added two goals on the day as well. McAnnally also passed one assist in the loss.
Clara Bissell and Keiley Ayers rounded out the scoring effort with one goal each.
BSC's Ashley Shepherd led the game with eight goals.
The game was tied 7-7 at the half. The Panther used a 7-0 run to pull away in the second half.
Ella Makin took the loss in goal for Berry. Makin collected six saves in the loss.
BSC led the game in shots (28-25), draw controls (18-12) and clears (9-7), while both teams forced 18 turnovers.
The Vikings host Greensboro in their next game on Sunday, April 10 at 12 p.m.
