Women's Lacrosse Outscores Hendrix, 9-8

CONWAY, Ark. – Angelica Miller scored three goals as the Berry College women's lacrosse team opened up conference play with a 9-8 win at Hendrix College on Saturday afternoon. 

The win was the first of the season for the Vikings, moving them to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Warriors to 2-2 and 0-1.

Miller's three goals led the BC offense. Both Savannah Robar and Kelsey McAnnally added two goals apiece in the win. McAnnally dished two assists as well.

Hendrix jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead to open the game, but BC answered with five consecutive goals to move the score to, 5-2. The Vikes were ahead 6-5 at halftime.

BC's last goal came from McAnnally with 23:09 to play.

Ella Makin earned the win in goal for the Vikings. Makin recorded nine saves in her 60 minutes of work.

For the Warriors, Bridget Umble scored three goals and passed two assists in the loss. Teammates Jesse Clark, Raychl Reger and Meghan Ayers each added a goal for Hendrix.

Hendrix forced 22 Berry turnovers to their 20. The Vikings led the game in both shots (27-20) and ground balls (26-15). The Warriors held a 10-9 edge in draw controls.

The Vikings host LaGrange College in their next game on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Valhalla.
