Vikings Fall to Colorado College in Season Opener

ROME, Ga. -- Christian Akers had four goals and Nick Voso added 16 saves, but Berry College lost to Colorado College, 14-8, on Friday at Valhalla.

After the season-opener, Berry dropped to 0-1. The visiting Tigers moved to 1-0.

Akers' four goals led the BC offense. Bailey Martin tallied twice in the loss as well. Justin Westbrook and Jake Emche each added one goal apiece to round off the Berry scoring. Quentin Johnson passed two assists for the Vikes as well.

BC rallied twice in the first quarter before CC netted their first goal. The Tigers led 6-5 at the half. While both teams scored three times in the final quarter. Colorado College out scored BC 5-0 in the third quarter.

Austin Davie netted four goals for the Tigers in the win. Chase Murphy earned the win in goal for the Tigers, making 12 saves in his 56:00 minutes of work. Colorado College led the game in shots (50-26) and ground balls (36-19) and forced 28 Berry turnovers to their 20.

The Vikings host Methodist University in their next game on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m.
