MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Top-ranked Oglethorpe's Gabe Alvarez scored in double overtime as the Berry College men's soccer team fell to Oglethorpe University, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alvarez opened up scoring in the fifth minute off a free kick to put the Stormy Petrels ahead, 1-0.
- Daniel Shaw then evened the game at one apiece off a pass from Steven Moore in the 56th minute of play.
- Oglethorpe's Topher Marshall regained the lead for the Stormy Petrels in the 62nd minute, moving the score to, 2-1.
- Jake Williamson scored the final Berry goal in the 85th minute off a pass from Milton Tama, forcing the game into double overtime until Alvarez tallied for the second time of the game.
- Oglethorpe outshot Berry, 19-17, while the Vikings added five corner kicks to the Stormy Petrels' four.
