ROME, Ga. - - Although Kim Fischer netted 3 goals for the Vikings, the Berry College women's lacrosse team lost their first home game of the season to Piedmont College, 22-7, on Tuesday afternoon.
The loss dropped BC to 7-4 overall. The win improved the Lions to a perfect 12-0 on the year.
Kelsey McAnnally tallied from Angelica Miller to open the scoring 1:46 into the match. The visiting Lions, however, scored the next 6 goals en route to the victory. Piedmont led 9-3 at halftime.
Claire Rosenberg dished 3 assists for the home team. McAnnally posted 2 goals for the Vikes. Miller added 1 goal and 1 assist on the afternoon, and Jones added 1 goal as well.
Casey Born suffered the loss in the goal for BC. Born collected 4 saves in the loss.
Maggie McDaniel paced Piedmont with 6 goals and 3 helpers. Teammate Mckynsey Douglas had 6 goals and 2 assists.
For the game, the Lions led in shots (27-13) and draw controls (24-7). BC had the edge in ground balls, 12-6. The Vikes also forced Piedmont to turn the ball over 16 times, to their 11.
Berry hosts Centre College at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Vikings's senior day recognition will take place at halftime.
