ROME, Ga. -- Led by Christian Akers' 4 goals, the Berry College men's lacrosse team defeated Rhodes College, 10-6, at home on Friday afternoon.
The win was the second in a row for the Vikes, improving them to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Lynx to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the SAA.
Although Rhodes' Jason Lee scored the first goal of the game, Akers' season-high 4 goals (2 in the first half) helped put the Vikings to an early, 6-2, lead going into halftime.
Cory Hall also scored 2 goals for BC in the win. Hall scooped 3 ground balls on the afternoon as well.
Four other Vikings scored 1 goal against the Lynx: Clayton McGlasson, Quentin Johnson, Maxwell Smerka, and James Kurila.
For Rhodes, Mike Knudsen scored 2 goals in the loss.
The Vikings led the Lynx in shots (44-30), ground balls (32-20), and face-offs (13-6).
Nick Voso got the win in the goal for Berry. He posted 10 saves in the victory.
BC will host Hendrix College in their next SAA matchup on Sunday, March 29, at 1 p.m.
