Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. -- Berry College won its two games on Tuesday in Florida. The Vikings defeated Wittenberg, 9-4, and then beat Haverford, 7-5. BC is now 7-4 on the season.
In the early game vs. Wittenberg, Brittany Ferrell collected three hits and sparked the Vikings to a 9-4 victory. She tripled in the second inning and singled in the first and fifth innings. Ferrell was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in the victory
Wittneberg managed just two hits off of freshman Kassie Howard (6-1). She allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during her three innings of work.
Chelsea Zang took the loss for Wittenberg (2-2). She lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
The Vikings scored three runs on an RBI single by Kylie Aiken (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and a two-run triple by Ferrell.
Berry tacked on another four runs in the fifth. Ferrell singled, plating Allison DeBusk (2-for-3, 3 runs) to kick things off. That was followed up by Aiken's triple, bringing home Ferrell and Brittany Tuttle (2-for-2, 2 runs).
In the later game, the Vikings held off Haverford, 7-5, as the Fords were unable to overcome a five-run fourth inning deficit.
Aiken racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Vikings. She singled in the third inning. Ferrell collected 2 hits in the win.
Allie Coronado (2-0) allowed five runs over five innings but still recorded the victory. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered eight hits.
Kendall Chambers took the loss for Haverford (4-2). She allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.
The Vikings play Moravian and Heidelberg on Wednesday.
