Women's lacrosse wins home opener, 15-6

ROME, Ga. -- Kelsey McAnnally scored four goals and dished five assists as Berry College defeated Hendrix, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings moved to 1-1 and 1-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Warriors fell to 1-3 and 0-1 in the SAA.

BC led 7-5 at halftime. Berry's Claire Rosenberg netted the first 2 goals of the contest and finished with 3 goals and two helpers. Freshman Savannah Robar tallied 3 times and passed one assist for the Vikes.

The home team then dominated the second half by out-scoring Hendrix 8-1 en-route to the victory. Berry netted the first five goals of the second half before HC's Bridget Umble tallied to cut the deficit to 11-6 with 14:41 remaining. Umble paced Hendrix with 3 goals and one assist.

The Vikings led in shots (31-17), ground balls (21-9) and draw controls (15-10). Berry committed 15 turnovers, but forced 23 Warrior miscues. Defender Kensey Lauber has 2 of the Vikings' 9 caused turnovers.

Goalkeeper Tori Alexander had 7 saves for BC. Hendrix's Gabryele Pochron recorded 6 stops for the visitors.

The Vikings return to action on Tuesday when Alma College visits Ford Field. The first draw control is at 3 p.m.
