Volleyball Defeats Rhodes, 3-1

MEMPHIS, Tn.— The Berry College Volleyball team defeated Rhodes College on Saturday, 3-1.Set scores were 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, and 25-14. 

The second win of the weekend for the Vikes, the match improved BC to 18-5 overall and 9-3 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Lynx to 9-14 and 2-9. 

Jessica Gum and Katie O'Rourke led the offense in the victory. O'Rourke had 12 kills, and Gum added 10. Both players also added eight blocks in the win. 

Katie Truluck led the defense with 18 digs. Lauren Schmitz passed 38 assists for the Vikings. 

"I thought we did a great job staying mentally tough today after dropping the second set," said BC Head Coach Mika Robinson. "Rhodes was playing great defense and serving aggressively, but we stayed patient and waited for our opportunities to take big swings. It is definitely great to come off this weekend 2-0."

For Rhodes, Ellen Platt collected 14 kills. 

The Vikings will play Millsaps in their next match on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Cage Center.
