ROME, Ga. - - Alex Rotoloni and Anu Campbell scored for the Vikings, but the Berry College men's soccer team lost to Birmingham-Southern College, 3-2 in overtime, on Sunday afternoon.
The loss dropped BC to 4-5-2 overall and 1-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Panthers to 9-2-2 and 1-2-1.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, leaving the score at 0-0 going into halftime.
BSC's Spencer Nichols opened the second half scoring with an unassisted goal. The fifty-ninth minute tally put the Panthers ahead 1-0.
Rotoloni's free kick from 30 yards out then tied the game up for the Vikes. The 68th minute goal moved the score to 1-1.
Campbell followed in the eighty-sixth minute, scoring off a rebounded shot from Steven Moore. The goal gave the Vikes a 2-1 lead.
The Panthers' Dallas Coyne tied the game at two apiece in the eighty-seventh minute, scoring off a free kick from 19 yards out. The game remained tied 2-2 going into overtime.
BSC's Adam Clausen ended the OT period with a ninety-third minute goal. Finding the back of the net on a header off of Coyne's corner kick, Clausen's tally ended the game with the Panthers ahead 3-2.
Berry led the game in shots (22-11), while the Panthers had the edge in corner kicks (6-1).
Zachary Wroblewski (4-3-1) was in goal for the Vikings, collecting three saves in his 93 minutes of work.
BC travels to Conway, Arkansas to take on Hendrix College on Friday, Oct. 16. The SAA contest is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. EST.
