Vikes impress in 3-0 win over Centre

ROME, Ga. - - The Berry College volleyball team played one of their best matches of the year as they defeated Centre College, 3-0, at the Cage Center on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15.

The Vikings improved their record to 9-9 and 4-1 in Southern Athletic Association play. The loss ended the Colonels' four-game winning streak, dropping their record to 6-11, 3-2.

Anna Keappler led BC with a .632 hitting percentage (no attack errors) on the day, adding 12 kills and 10 digs. Emily Stromberg and Katie O'Rourke also had big offensive days for the Vikings. Stromberg had eight kills and 14 digs, and O'Rourke had nine kills.

Katie Truluck played great defense, with 9 digs, and Lauren Schmitz added to the victory with 38 assists also.

"We felt like that was a solid team win," said Coach Mika Robinson.  "Many of the parts of our game that we have been working to improve were solid today, but--most importantly--we brought a high level of energy and focus."

Beth Cecil recorded 10 kills for the Colonels.

The Vikings look to keep their winning streak alive as they travel to Memphis, Tennessee to play Rhodes College on Friday, October 3.
