Berry collects two more wins at Centre; Showdown with B-SC to come

DANVILLE, Ky. -- Berry College swept a doubleheader--and the four game series--at Centre College on Sunday. The Vikings took game one, 8-2, and prevailed in the nightcap, 8-5.

Berry--which now has a 10-game winning streak--improved to 27-7 and 16-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Colonels dropped to 8-19, 3-7.

In the opener, Berry won 8-2. Allison DeBusk knocked three doubles, scored twice and had two RBI in her four at-bats. Fellow freshman Brittany Ferrell was 3-4 with a triple, one double and one RBI. Sarah Moore collected two of BC's 12 hits.

Kayla Davis improved to 11-2 after allowing two runs and six hits. Andrea Cole tossed the final two frames for the visitors.

In the second game, Smith went 4-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Abby Daniels went 3-3 with a double and knocked in three runners.

Marie Collop earned the start and collected the win in the pitching circle for the Vikings. She allowed two runs, scattered eight hits, struck out eight and walked two. Cole gave up three runs in the seventh inning.

BC will head into this weekend's big series one game ahead of Birmingham-Southern (17-3) in the loss column. The teams play doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday at Ford Field to close out the regular season.
