Box Score 2 DEMOREST, Ga. -- Berry College lost a doubleheader at 13th ranked Piedmont (6-2). Game scores were 9-1 and 3-2.
In the nightcap, the Vikings led 2-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning before the Lions tied the game. In the top of the seventh, BC had a runner on third with no outs, but did not score.
Berry starter Kayla Davis got the first two batters out in the bottom of the seventh. Piedmont, however, put together two hits and a walk and scored the winning run. Davis struck out nine batters, scattered eight hits and took the defeat.
Abby Daniels went 2-3 with an RBI to lead BC hitters in game two.
In game one, Ally Claytor scored Berry's lone run on a wild pitch and came home from third base. She had singled and stole second base earlier.
The game was ended in the bottom of the sixth inning when Olivia Duncan (3-4, 3 RBI) doubled in two runners to make the score 9-1.
Andrea Cole (2-1) took the loss for Berry. She allowed all nine runs (8 earned). Piedmont collected 15 hits to BC's four in the contest.
The Vikings (6-4) travel to California to face Cal Lutheran on Sunday and Chapman the following day.
