Vikings upended at BSC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - - The Berry College men's soccer team lost a close game on Sunday at Birmingham-Southern College, 2-0. 

The loss dropped the Vikings to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in Southern Athletic Association play. The win improved the Panthers' record to 9-2-1 and 3-1.

Both teams fought hard for possession in the first half, but neither team could find the back of the net, and the score remained tied, 0-0, going into halftime. 

Although the Panthers led in shots the first half (5-4), the Vikings led in corner kicks (3-2), and the teams were head-to-head going into the second half.

The first goal of the game did not come until the 63rd minute when Bastian Jedliczka scored on a penalty kick to put B-SC ahead 1-0. 

The Panthers then went ahead, 2-0, when Jedliczka assisted Claudio Lipp for the second score of the game. 

Jon Nelson kept the Vikings alive with two saves on the day.

Jonas Heidrich also had two saves for BSC.

The Vikings will host Hendrix College on Friday, October 24 at 3:30 p.m.
