Berry Women's Volleyball defeats Lynchburg and Edgewood

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Berry College won both matches on Saturday at the CNU Captains Classic. The Vikings defeated Lynchburg, 3-0, and Edgewood, 3-1.

The set scores against Lynchburg were 25-13, 25-22, and 25-12. For BC, Stephanie Quinn recorded 11 digs  and passed 25 assists. Classic All-Tournament selection Katie Truluck, a freshman, also recorded 11 digs for Berry. Kelsey Lochstampfor and Anna Keappler earned 8 kills for BC.

For Lynchburg, Brittany Crawford recorded 19 digs.  

In the Edgewood match, the set scores for Berry were 25-17, 14-25, 25-15, and 28-26. For Berry, Emily Stromberg spiked 19 kills along with 12 digs. Truluck had 33 digs and Quinn recorded 48 assists with 11 digs.  Berry's other Classic All-Tournament, Katie O'Rourke, posted 11 kills for the Vikings.

Jessica Martin recorded 15 kills for Edgewood.

"We had a great team effort and played incredible floor defense," said Berry Head Coach Mika Robinson. "It's great to pick up wins against an in-region opponent as well as a strong out-of-region team."

The Vikings are now 3-1 on the season. They play their first home game against LaGrange this Wednesday at 7 p.m.
