Box Score 2 DANVILLE, Ky. -- Berry College split its two matches on Saturday at Centre College. The Vikings defeated Centre, 3-0, in a conference match. In the nightcap, BC lost to Asbury University, 3-1.
Centre (14-3, 6-2) had a chance to tie the Vikings for first place in the Southern Athletic Association stanings. Yet BC won by set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-21.
Emily Stromberg had game-highs in kills (13) and digs (16). Kelsey Lochstampfor hit a team-best .333 and added 12 kills. Stephanie Quinn dished 36 assists.
"Our ball-control and serving were the story against Centre," said BC Head Coach Mika Robinson. "I'm really proud of the intensity we brought after such a quick turnaround on the road."
Asbury, an NAIA school, improved to 21-7 with its four-set victory.
"Asbury ran offense that was very different than we were used to seeing," Robinson said. "I was proud of the way we battled throughout the match."
Berry (15-5, 8-1 SAA) next plays at Oglethorpe on Thursday night.
