ROME, Ga. – Berry's women's lacrosse team scored the game's first six goals and never looked back on its way to soundly defeating Agnes Scott 20-8 on a sunny Thursday afternoon at Ford Field. The victory extended the Vikings' win streak to three games.
In first half, Berry found the back of the net 15 times on its way to tallying 20 or more goals for the third straight game, as well as for the sixth time overall this season. Just as importantly, Berry only allowed two goals in the first 30 minutes.
"Basically we came out aggressive," said Berry head coach Shaun Williamson. "We really attacked the goal."
Kristan Dziurzynski led Berry's scoring spree with five goals while Blair Shupenko had four, all of which came in the first half. Rachel Aiken and Elizabeth Flatt finished with three apiece.
Carolyn Mahoney led Agnes Scott's offensive charge with five goals.
Berry outshot Agnes Scott 35-14 for the game, including 29-6 in the opening half.
Taylor Martin picked up the win in goal for Berry, stopping four shots in her one half of action. She made her first appearance as a position player late in the second half, attempting a shot of her own.
Martin's backup, Diana Lynch, recorded one save in the second half.
Agnes Scott goalkeeper Staci Pereira saved nine shots in a losing effort.
Berry will resume play on Tuesday at Ford Field against Birmingham-Southern at 4 p.m.
