Vikings Roll To 23-10 Victory Over Birmigham-Southern

Box Score

Jenny Miller and Kristan Dziurzynski scored seven goals apiece to help lead Berry's women's lacrosse team to a 23-10 victory over Birmingham-Southern at Ford Field Tuesday.

The Vikings (8-4-1) scored the game's first three goals and jumped out to a 6-1 lead less than 12 minutes into the game. By halftime, Berry led 11-5.

Birmingham-Southern (7-5) scored the first two goals of the second half to pull to within 11-7 with 26:25 remaining in the game, but Berry then erupted for nine consecutive goals, including three by Elizabeth Flatt in a span of 2:45 to take control of the game for good.

Berry rattled off 53 shots in the game, 30 more than BSC attempted.

Flatt finished the game with four goals, while Rachel Aiken joined the Berry scoring spree with two and Katie Harber, Blair Shupenko and Kaylee Lane each scored once for Berry.

Chelsea Van Voorhis led the Panthers with five goals.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Saturday at Roanoke College in Salem, Va.

Notes: Miller and graduate assistant coach Megan Woodis were honored at halftime Tuesday. Miller is a senior who was playing in her final home game at Berry. She is currently Berry's all-time leader in goals scored, ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers. Woodis is finishing a two-year stint as the Vikings' graduate assistant.
