Jenny Miller Scores Seven Goals, But Centre Defeats Berry 18-15

Box Score

Berry's Jenny Miller scored seven goals, but host Centre College defeated the Vikings 18-15 in a St. Patrick's Day women's lacrosse matinee game Saturday morning.

"The leprechaun wasn't on our side today," said Berry coach Shaun Williamson, who outfitted his squad in special green shorts for the contest.

The teams played the second half even, scoring seven goals apiece, but Centre was able to make its three-goal halftime lead stand.

Centre gained its 11-8 lead thanks in large part to a 26-14 shot advantage in the first 30 minutes.

Kristan Dziurzynski scored four times for Berry, while Rachel Aiken added three goals and Kim Slade scored once.

Centre's Meg Hawthorne scored a game-high nine goals.

Berry goalie Taylor Martin recorded 13 saves. Centre's Lauren Esterle had one.

The Vikings are scheduled to return to action Thursday, when they host Wooster at 4 p.m.
