Box Score 2 Berry's Kristen Stoll drove in three runs in the opening game of a softball doubleheader against Birmingham-Southern, but BSC defeated the Vikings 12-8 and went on to sweep the twin bill.
Birmingham-Southern won the second game 8-0.
Stoll led Berry's eight-hit attack in the opener with a 2-for-4 performance, and scored twice to go along with her three RBIs. She also drew a walk.
Holly Todd also had a pair of hits for Berry in the opener. Todd, Lacey Herring, Denice Aleman, Krista Woody and Katie Stanford all drove in a run for Berry.
Danielle Rucker drove in three runs and Taylor Bassett went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Panthers.
BSC reliever Bethany Fronk earned the victory. She allowed two earned runs on four hits.
Berry starter Caillee Shamoun took the loss after allowing five earned runs in five innings. Shamoun fanned two batters and walked four in the opener.
Panthers hurler Beth Lefler starred in the second game, which was stopped after five innings. Lefler tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out one batter and walking one.
Lefler allowed just a first-inning single to Sara Vigue and a fourth-inning single to Stoll.
Ashley Bice and Alyssa Stathem drove in three runs apiece for the Panthers.
Andrea Cole took the loss in the second game. She allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits and two walks.
Berry is scheduled to return to action Saturday and Sunday at the Rhodes College Classic.
