ROME, Ga. - Berry's Caillee Shamoun and Andrea Cole pitched complete games and the Vikings took advantage of a big offensive inning in each contest en route to a doubleheader sweep of Rhodes Friday at South Ford Field.
The Vikings won the opener 6-2 before needing just five innings to defeat the Lynx 12-3 in the nightcap.
The sweep gave Berry (19-7 overall) victories in 17 of its past 20 games.
In the first game, Berry broke a scoreless tie with a five-run fourth inning that featured RBI singles from Krista Woody and Holly Todd and a run-scoring double from Jessie Washington.
Shamoun (12-4) allowed two runs on five hits, three of which came in Rhodes' two-run sixth. She struck out six batters and walked just one in seven innings of work.
Lacey Herring was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored in the first game.
Berry wasted little time taking control in the second game, scoring 10 runs in the first inning and eventually going ahead 12-0 on Katie Stanford's two-run pinch hit home run in the third.
The Vikings collected 10 hits in the second contest, with Holly Todd and Blaze Wilson picking up two each.
Kristen Stoll, Chelsea Usher, Woody and Wilson joined Todd with two RBIs apiece, while the top four hitters in Berry's batting order - Washington, Sara Vigue, Stoll and Herring - each scored twice.
Cole (7-3) allowed three runs in the game, only two of which were earned. She gave up four hits and walked two batters while striking out ine in five innings.
The Vikings return to action Saturday at 1 p.m., when they host a doubleheader against LaGrange at South Ford Field.
