Box Score Berry's CJ McRae scored a pair of goals, but Concordia (Wisc.) defeated the Vikings 10-5 in Dallas, Texas Wednesday afternoon.
Concordia scored first, putting the ball in the net less than four minutes into the contest, but the Vikings scored back-to-back goals from Michael Emanuelo and Nat Morey in a one minute, 30 second stretch to take a 2-1 advantage with 7:05 remaining in the first period.
Concordia answered with three straight goals to go ahead 4-2 before McRae would score for the first time in the game to pull the Vikings back to within a goal with 1:45 remaining in the opening period.
Concordia added the lone goal in the second period to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
Each team picked up a score in the third period, with McRae scoring on an assist from Emanuelo with 6:57 left in the period. It marked Emanuelo's second assist of the game. He also helped out on Morey's first-period score.
Concordia's lead would grow to 8-4 when Samuel Wladyka scored the first two goals of the final period. Wes Goldsberry would record Berry's final score with 5:39 to go before Concordia would add a pair of goals in the final three minutes.
Concordia held the advantage in most of the statistical categories, outshooting the Vikings 36-26 in the game, and picking up 17 more ground balls than Berry. Concordia won nine of the 14 faceoffs in the game.
The Vikings' Tate Kilpatrick won all three of the faceoffs he was involved in. Goldsberry and Tommy Edgeworth recorded three ground balls apiece to lead Berry in that category. Goalie JOrdan Boreman recorded 15 saves.
Peter Morton led Concordia with three goals.
The Vikings are scheduled to return to action Friday against Carthage at Berry's Ford Field. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
