Berry Wins Twice Tuesday Night in Florida

Kristen Stoll drove in two runs and Jessica Washington went 5-for-5 and scored four runs to help lead Berry to an 11-2 victory over Bethel (Minn.) in the Vikings' second game at the NTC Invitational in Clermont, Fla., late Tuesday.  The Vikings defeated Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham 8-0 in the opener.

Berry wasted no time taking control against Bethel, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.  The Vikings scored in every inning but the second and third, adding two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, and a single run in the sixth.

Washington, Stoll and Holly Todd combined to collect six of Berry's eight hits in the game.  Washington had two triples, two doubles and a single, accounting for 11 total bases.  Stoll went 2-for-5 and added a run, while Todd went 2-for-3 and scored twice.  Sara Vigue was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. 

Krista Woody and Blaze Wilson each drove in a run for the Vikings.

Bethel actually outhit Berry 12-10 in the game, but couldn't put enough of the hits together against Vikings pitchers Andrea Cole and Caillie Shamoun.

Cole earned the win by holding Bethel to one earned run on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.  She struck out one batter.  Shamoun came on in relief in the fifth inning and allowed one earned run on four hits.  She fanned six batters in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

The victory was the sixth in a row for the Vikings, who improved to 11-5 overall.  Berry has outscored its opponents 62-11 during the winning streak. 

Shamoun started the FDU-Florham game, striking out nine batters in a six inning complete game.  She allowed just two hits.

Sara Vigue and Lacey Herring Berry's 13-hit attack with three hits apiece against the Devils.  Vigue was 3-for-4 with a double and run, and Herring was had a hit in all three official at-bats, and also scored a run.  Katie Stanford and Hailley Oxner each added a triple, with Stanford going 2-for-2 and Oxner scoring a run.  Holly Todd went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored once. 

Berry is scheduled to return to action Thursday against Mt. Ida College and New England College.
