Box Score

Vikings' Claire Scott Leads All Players With 14 Kills, But Shorter Prevails

Berry's Claire Scott recorded a match high 14 kills and surpassed the 1,000 career point mark, but the Vikings fell to Shorter in four sets Tuesday evening at Shorter's Winthrop-King Centre.  Set scores were 25-18, 17-25, 25-18, 25-14.

After both teams started slowly in the first set, each putting together identical .125 (11-6-40) attacking percentages in the opening frame, Berry rolled in the second set, hitting .414 in the set and using a defense that held Shorter to just a .147 mark in that stretch.

But the Hawks would commit few attacking errors the rest of the way, hitting .367 and .577, respectively, in the final two sets to secure the victory.

Scott recorded 10 digs to go with her 14 kills for the Vikings (9-10 overall).  She also recorded her 1,000th career point when she recorded her 12th of the match.

She was joined in double figures in the kill column by Meredith Hopper, who finished 11 kills and 13 digs.  The Vikings' Kristin Hargrove led all players with 14 digs, and Stephanie Quinn dished out a match high 41 assists.

Shorter was led by Jasmine Crook and Tori Bradley, who tallied 13 kills apiece.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Thursday at Reinhardt.
